Saint Anthony Park Wayfinding Project

Art in Place

Artist Carrie Christensen developed an eco-friendly wayfinding system that encourages drivers to get out of their cars and walk and bike through their community.

In collaboration with the Saint Anthony Park Community Council (SAPCC), Christensen created a wayfinding art project to encourage non-motorized transit in and around the Saint Anthony Park Neighborhood. A number of decorated bikes with distance and directional signs were placed around the neighborhood to promote and celebrate biking and walking in the neighborhood. The signage is not only a great tool for current pedestrians and cyclists but will also increase automobile driver awareness of the presence of walking and biking in the area, inspire more non-motorized transit, and communicate a sense of neighborhood identity and history.
